Hema-Benz

I don’t know about you, but I have tried many desensitizing treatments in my office. Class V area sensitivity especially, runs rampant in my area. The market is flooded with products claiming to be desensitizers. My biggest complaint is when I get a new desensitizing treatment and they want me to store it in the fridge, put on a rubber dam, rinse and dry, blow air, light cure or wait forever… I just want something easy to use that just works.

Recently we received Hema-Benz (health Dental, LLC.) here at Dental Advisor. This product is not new to the dental product world, it has been around for about 18 years, but is not as known as some other desensitizers. According to the manufacturers this product will provide up to 3-6 months of protection per application, is soft tissue friendly, does not affect bonding, and will not affect existing restorations.

What I liked best is the instructions for use. If you can pumice the area they recommend doing so, which makes sense… get off the plaque. If not, just rub for 30 seconds, and then blot or air dry. We got some good results also just playing with the material around the office!

What were the Initial Insights of the Dental Advisor team and our editorial board?
– One of our editorial board members tried putting on a sensitive area and remarked “Oh my gosh, my tooth is feeling better already!”. She was getting ready to travel and asked me for a few of the uni-dose swabs to take with her.
– There is not an excess of liquid in the uni-dose so you don’t feel like you are wasting a lot of product.
– It is nice that it is soft tissue friendly as we all know many times sensitive areas are class V.
-The swab in the uni-dose is pretty big. It would definitely not work well to place in a prep.

What do our Clinical Evaluators and their patients think about this product once it’s used in their offices? Look for a possible clinical evaluation in an upcoming issue!
